Spring is the Perfect Time to Travel, Clean, Try Something New, or Buy a New Home

Though our seasons here in Southern California aren’t nearly as punctuated as in New England and other parts of the country, we still feel the impetus to get moving when our calendars turn to April and May. Just like the daffodils and lilacs that burst open, we get inspired to harness spring’s vibrant energy and travel, clean, try something new, or buy a new home.

Travel Somewhere New

With summer break for the kids just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start planning for some adventures. Take your kids on an African safari, snorkeling in Hawaii, swimming in the sparkling waters of Cancún in Mexico, or camping in Arches National Park in Utah. Make some memories that will stay with your kids and spouse all year long, and for the rest of their lives. Lots of of don’t realize how precious time is and how quickly it passed until our kids are all grown up and having babies of their own. Cherish these special moments with your kids and foster those deep relationships that will last a lifetime.

Get Your Clean On

Nothing says spring more than spring cleaning. Get your rags, mops, and furniture polish out and make your home shine! Go through your closets, garage, attic, and basement and purge all the unneeded stuff. Prioritize what you really need and get rid of the rest—simplifying is awesome! In a letter to his friend H.G.O. Blake, prolific writer, philosopher, and nature-lover Henry David Thoreau wrote, “So simplify the problem of life, distinguish the necessary and the real. Probe the earth to see where your main roots run”. Go back to your roots, focus in on them, and simplify your life as much as you can.

Try Something New

Have you been doing the same hobbies for years? Are you in a hobby rut? Try something new—there are infinite possibilities and spring is the perfect time to start. Spring’s energy give us new stimulus to try something new—take classes in a foreign language, try rollerblading, get a new recipe book and attempt to bake for the first time, or order something you’ve never tried at a restaurant. You’re never too old to try something new—just ask Georgina Harwood, who celebrated her 100th birthday by skydiving in Cape Town, South Africa, according to the BBC.

Buy a New Home

If you’re interested in trying something new, there’s no better way to do it than by pulling up your roots and moving to a new town.
